Blog#10: Autumn

Hello, I'm Mio. Speaking of autumn, what do you recall? I recall "Autumn of appetite". There are many food in season in autumn. Especially, I like Pacific saurys very much. I eat Pacific saurys every autumn.

I came back my parents' home last weekend. Then, my mother asked me, "which do you want to eat, Pacific saurys or hamburg steaks for dinner?" Of course, I chose Pacific saurys, because I know that Pacific saurys in season are very good.

This photo is a grilled Pacific saury I ate. My mother grilled it for me. It was very delicious!!

I ate it with grated radish and soy sauce this time. But I recommend you eating a grilled Pacific saury with grated radish and Ponzu(a sauce containing soy sauce and vinegar or citrus juice). It is very good!

Do you like Pacific saurys?

  2. Hi Mio,
Thanks for reminding me - it is the season for sanma! I saw them at the supermarket this morning but I passed by them. They are really cheap now - the ones I saw were only 88 yen each. What a bargain. What other fish do you like?
And what other autumn foods do you like? I like squash, which is known as pumpkin or "kabocha" in Japan. I love it as tempura. Also I like yaki imo - is it satoimo in Japanese?
    Please reply.

My favorite way to eat it is so simple. Without seasoning, I eat it with hot rice. It is so delcious!

I like mackerel too. I love it as "Misoni"(mackerel cooked with miso as the chief seasoning).
And I like pumpkin too, but I don't eat it these days. Halloween is just around the corner, so I want to eat it! Also yakiimo is "Satumaimo" in Japanese. It is very delicious.
