Blog#7: Kamakura Bamboo Garden

Hello, I'm Emika Yura.

Today I want to talk about one of the memory of this summer. I went to Kamakura with my friends at the end of July. That day, weather was unsettled. However, we walked around Kamakura, and went to many places actively.

Especially, I want to recommend " Hokokuji Temple( 報国寺)" to you. This temple is one of the Zen temples which belongs to Kenchoji Temple of Rinzai Sect.It was established in 1334.There is the bamboo garden. We can relax and fully appreciate the beauty of about two thousand bamboo  all the year round.
Moreover near the bamboo garden, there is Kyukoan (休耕庵)where we can appreciate the bamboo garden and have a cup of tea (powdered green tea) and Japanese style confectionary.

In spite of hot summer, I could feel coolness. I felt like staying there longer. Someday I want to go to  Hokokuji Temple again!

I like Kamakura, too. I've ever been to Hokokuji Temple once. It's called "Bamboo Temple", isn't it? There are many temples in Kamakura, so I always get tired, but in Houkokuji Temple, we can rest drinking powdered green tea!
I want to go to Kamakura after I read your blog. Thank you for your bloging!

  9. Hi Emika,

Last summer I went to Kamakura but I didn't visit Hokokuji Temple. This place must be comfortable and relaxable.
I will surely visit there when I go to kamakura next time!
